American Nurses Association launches new customised edition of Mosbys Nursing Consult
The American Nurses Association (ANA) has launched a new online tool available exclusively to ANA members. Developed jointly with STM publisher Elsevier, the customised ANA Edition of Mosbys Nursing Consult delivers robust clinical information to ANA members in an organised, easy-to-use format.

University of Chicago Press joins Current Scholarship Program
The University of Chicago Press has announced a partnership with JSTOR, the preservation archive and research platform that is part of the not-for-profit ITHAKA. Under the deal, the Press will make leading titles available worldwide as part of the Current Scholarship Program. Scheduled for launch early next year, the programme will bring scholarly content from leading not-for-profit publishers to a single integrated platform, making its use more innovative, efficient, and affordable for faculty, students, librarians and publishers.

OCLC, Gale partnership to expand access to databases through WorldCat Local
Global library cooperative Online Computer Library Center, Inc. (OCLC) and e-research and educational publisher Gale, part of Cengage Learning, have signed an agreement to index the latter’s flagship full-text periodical databases in WorldCat Local. With this initiative, both parties seek to provide single-search access to users that subscribe to both services. WorldCat Local is the service that combines the cooperative power of OCLC member libraries worldwide with the ability to use WorldCat.org as a solution for local discovery and delivery services.

Cambridge Publishing Society launched, various publishers enroll
Cambridge University Press (CUP), Lightning Source, Salt and HarperCollins have joined the recently launched Cambridge Publishing Society (CAMPUS). The organisation is a counter to the Oxford Publishing Society, OPUS, and has been given initial sponsorship money by CUP. CAMPUS is for anyone involved in publishing in Cambridge. It will hold a variety of events to debate, network, research and market ideas.

IOP Publishing claims positive feedback on new iPhone apps
Non-profit scientific publisher Institute of Physics (IOP) Publishing has announced that its two new iPhone applications – physicsworld.com newsflash app and the IOPscience express app have received positive responses. Both these applications, launched in January 2010, have been developed to provide all researchers with mobile access to physics content and are free to use.

Potomac Institute Press launches online scientific publication – Synesis: A Journal of Science, Technology, Ethics and Policy
Potomac Institute Press, a subsidiary of the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, has launched a new online publication – Synesis: A Journal of Science, Technology, Ethics and Policy (www.synesisjournal.com). Prof. James Giordano, Chair of Academic Programs and Director of the Center for Neurotechnology Studies at the Potomac Institute for Policy Studies, will be the Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

Thieme Publishing announces second edition of Color Atlas of Pathophysiology
STM publisher Thieme Publishing Group has announced that the second edition of the Color Atlas of Pathophysiology includes the latest scientific information on molecular and genetic causes of disease as well as promising therapies. Additions to this fully updated edition include current information on acute respiratory distress syndrome, hyperoxia, oxidative stress, polycystic kidney disease, chronic inflammatory bowel disease, metabolic syndrome, copper metabolism and Wilsons disease, and dysproteinemias.

SpringerImages exceeds 2 million images mark
STM publisher Springer Science+Business Media has announced that its online image database SpringerImages (www.SpringerImages.com), which launched in July 2009 with 1.5 million images, now includes over 2 million images. SpringerImages is a growing collection of scientific images, tables, charts and graphs from Images.MD, as well as images from Springer journals and books, including Open Access.
